Keeper Coach: Scott Hazel
I grew up playing this sport in the Flint and Detroit areas.  I played several years in the Canada-U.S.A. games between Flint and Hamilton, Ontario.  I played my college soccer at Northern Michigan University from 1977 until 1981.
After moving to Texas in 1982, I played two years for the Amarillo Challengers, a farm club for the old Dallas Tornado of the NASL (North American Soccer League) and was an assistant varsity coach for Amarillo High School.
On returning to Michigan I settled in Rockford and was an assistant coach for the first Rockford High School boys’ team.  From 1985 until 1996 I was Rockford’s varsity boys coach.  We achieved our first District win in 1995.  I also coached Rockford girls’ from it’s beginning until 1996.
I was hired as a teacher at Cedar Springs High School in 1994 and was the first Varsity boys coach from 1998 until 2003.  Also during this time, I was the Cedar Springs J.V. girls’ coach.
As my children grew, I coached many Community Education soccer teams in Rockford, and assisted with several SCOR teams. In the Fall of 2009 I coached a CASSA select team in Cedar Springs.  In 2006, I returned as a volunteer assistant coach for Rockford, more specifically as a goalkeepers coach for the J.V.  Presently I am an assistant coach for Rockford Varsity and goalkeeper coach for the program.
